Interesting and informative piece of information from one legal firm, but when they refer to costly, we wonder how costly... How about a fixed rate deal, for a start. And while we're on the subject of deals, how about a special offer?

This is another article from solicitor Andrew Woolley, who appeared on the Interview with a Solicitor page

I don't normally include articles from the States, but this one on Collaborative Law techniques for divorce solicitors makes the points very well. I have to admit that sometimes I love the way our friends across the Atlantic cut to the chase and 'talk straight'. We could do with more straight talking from our legal profession at times. In the case of divorce, which is already a difficult issue, clouding it with rhetoric DOES NOT WORK.

The World's second Divorce Fair is coming to Brighton on October 11th this autumn. You have been warned... Not sure quite what to make of it. There are sure to be a good number of solicitors there plying their trade. Perhaps Divorce Solicitor Trap should set up a stand? Let me know what you think on our Contact Us page...

Andrew Woolley appeared on our Interview With a Solicitor page and this article comes from him. I am happy to display this clear information on the reality of procedure. The only thing it does not mention is all the to and froing of inter solicitor gobbledegook that can go on in between. However, if your solicitor is clear from the start it does vastly reduces the likelihood of this. Then you just have to worry about the other side's solicitor...

NEWS FLASH - Could it be that certain solicitors - particularly as we see in this Bournemouth Daily Echo article, those who have come under fire from this site - have come to their senses and are starting to realise that the public is fed up? Let's hope it is a reality and not just PR

About men claiming financially against women in court. With social roles changing, claims are changing too, and the courts are struggling to come to grips with it.

This is a Press Release from Divorce On-Line, an internet based company that provides a chat forum where divorcees or would be divorcees can communicate with each other. The site also offers DIY divorce packages. Divorce Solicitor Trap has no reports of the success of these packages and would welcome any feedback from people who have used them. The site is one of the biggest for on-line divorce services, which is useful to know in any event.

There must be many members of the Indian community in the UK who may feel a connection with the information in this article "Monsoon Divorce". For people of British origin, awareness of the difficulties of divorce in other countries enhances our sense of perspective.
-
This is a US Press release rather than an article, but it does show the way things may be set to go in the UK as regards a changing lawyer service... Could this mark the beginning of the end?

New views on unreasonable behaviour put Facebook into the spotlight in this Telegraph article

Here is a good article on splitting the assets, particularly talking about the family home and looking at what the options are. Children clearly change the focus. But be vigilant about the collaborative law methos referred to in this article. It can work well, but be careful that charges are not by the hour or session, since this can mean more drawing out or proceedings... especially if this service is offered by a solicitor firm rather than a professional mediator..

This Times article contains reference to a certain London lawyer who has acquired a reputation as a dismantler of men's fortunes. It indicates how some lawyers are eager to jump on the bandwagon of change. I find it hard to pass judgement on women who pursue their ex husband's large fortunes. This is such a socially sensitive issue and covers many considerations, such as our idea of marriage and sexual equality. Needs debating... Post us your comments and we will put them on display for others to read and respond to.

On a lighter note, and since we do not live in India, we can read this news story with an amused interest. Any comments anyone?!

Developments on EU efforts to introduce 'divorce shopping' between European states. Appears too complicated to become a reality - but the concept itself does not seem to make life any easier for divorcing couples.

I don't usually include articles on parent/child relationships during divorce - but I feel that this article points to a widespread problem and one of which divorcing parents are not always fully aware.

This article from the other side of the Atlantic, is useful reading for anyone thinking about separation.

In the wake of cut backs in legal aid funds, judges are being advised to enforce mediation. This seems a better option than solicitor led negotiation, but better training for mediators would be beneficial, if this prescribed method is going to yield fair results across the board. Contact us with your experience of mediation through any of our contact pages.
