Introduction

Divorce Solicitor Trap was founded by Lucille Turner, writer, journalist and divorced parent, in 2007.  Her objective was to warn others of the dangers faced by the public when dealing with legal practitioners at the time of divorce.

Inspiration for the site arose from her own difficult experience and the strong sense of injustice she felt at the end of a two year divorce process - a process that left her feeling exploited by people she thought were there to help: her divorce solicitors.

As the idea for the website took shape, Lucille found, through her encounters with others, that her experience with solicitors was just the tip of the iceberg. While countless others had been over charged or had received poor service at the time of divorce, there were those whose experience had been even more severe than her own. These people were the real victims of the legal profession; driven to depression and even to the edge of madness by the way their divorce had been managed by solicitors, they brought the urgency of the current crisis into perspective. Creating the Divorce Solicitor Trap site began to seem less of a personal quest for justice and more of a necessity. Public awareness is today the key to changing an unfair system. New legislation, although it will help, is still not as powerful as information.

The point made by Divorce Solicitor Trap is this: That vulnerable consumers should be systematically exploited by a legal profession that claims to stand for fairness and justice, is unacceptable. It prompts the question: Why are we allowing this to happen to so many people?

Divorce Solicitor Trap is convinced that the time for change is NOW - Time to stop paying.
